Questioning Preparedness

I have this poster hanging inside our bathroom medicine cupboard.  I found this printout when searching the web for information on Lyme’s Disease when my Grandson Brendan was first diagnosed with the disease.

And even though I read the information, and all of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (“CDC”) articles on ticks and lyme disease, it did not prevent Elliot from being bitten by a tick.  Most likely last weekend, when he was visiting family, in an area now documented for ticks.

However, Kayla did know to pull the tick out (with tweezers), and clean the area.  Then I called the Doc, who prescribed amoxicillin, with a follow-up visit in two weeks.
My sweet, fun and silly little man
Hopefully, our quick actions were just enough to keep this child healthy and free from Lyme’s disease.

It makes me question how prepared can we be????

  1. Fingers are crossed for you! Keep us informed!

  2. Glad he is feeling better, I guess its knowing what to do meant that his recovery will be better, and making sure that his immune system is built up. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you! I agree. We can only do what we can do.

  3. The important thing, also, is for Kayla not to blame herself in any way. (I do live in an area where Lyme Disease is rampant, by the way, and I know several people who have had it). One can do all the "right" things but bad things can still happen.
